ON ACTING

"My favorite type of role to play is one that has something so secret that it's deep, very deep. I do like the darker characters; I'd use the word 'off '."

Soap Opera Digest, January 19,1999

"I like something twisted, a little off. It's fun. I like playing someone with a scarred soul, like Kit(All My Children). It gives me something to dig for. I've met a lot of interesting people, and I've been in a lot of interesting situations I can tap. I don't like something that's just surface."

Soap Opera Weekly, February 16, 1999

ON ALL MY CHILDREN

"They have such a good strong work ethic at AMC, which I respect. But they also have such a fun-loving atmosphere, there is so much humor on the set, which is a nice balance."

Soap Opera News, January 12, 1999

"I was the new kid, and didn't know anyone or anything. These men(actors) are icons, but they did everything to make it easy for me. They are humorous and open, not pretentious at all.... I had to match them in the scenes. I just remember going home and praying that I'd be up to it. Working with all of them makes you want to rise to that level as well."

Soap Opera Weekly, February 16, 1999

ON MODELING

"I did a little theatre in my hometown. But I was painfully shy. Modeling really helped open doors. It also helped me get out there and learn how to move in front of the camera. I also knew it was a way to get out of my small hometown and travel."

Soap Opera News, January 12, 1999

ON HER MOVIE, " RIOT "

" It was with Sugar Ray Leonard, the boxer. I played a British ambassador's daughter so I had to do the accent as well. Mostly it was action; I had to run and cry alot. The movie wasn't that bad. It was low budget, but there was no nudity, which was good. I've learned alot since then."

Soap Opera Weekly, February 16, 1999

ON FAITH

" The most meaningful event was the moment during which I was saved personally and in my Christian faith. I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart. That was such a powerful moment that has stuck with me throughout. I'm a human being. I make mistakes. I have many flaws. But as far as being born again, yes, I had an awakening later in my life. It was a rebirth kind of thing for me, a very personal thing."

Soap Opera Weekly, February 16, 1999

ON ISRAEL

" When I was a little girl, I felt drawn to Israel and it's probably the most magnificent place I've ever been in my life. I studied biblical archaeology. It was great. I've always had strong faith, but it really let me understand. Israel was the mecca for three major religions. It's the cradle of civilization. I can't wait to go back. You feel everything there. It's a beautiful place."

Soap Opera News, January 12, 1999

ON HER FANS

"Every single bit of fan mail I received (for All My Children) was wonderful. I have the greatest fans."

Soap Opera Digest, April 1999

ON HER FAMILY

"My grandfather was a self-made man. I learned a lot of my dogged determination from him. My dad taught me discipline. You fall off a horse, you get right back on it." (Paige's mother encouraged Paige's pursuit of the arts).

Soaps In Depth ABC, January 5, 1999

ON HERSELF

"I like to be by myself. I need to go away and be by myself and refuel in order to go back and be around so many to give. I like writing poetry and children's stories. I like to create and I like to pray. I also want to get married at some point, but I think it will have to be to someone with a similar liking."

Soap Opera Weekly, February 16, 1999

"Don't ever say no to me, because that just makes me want to go right out and do it. Failure is not in my vocabulary."

Soaps In Depth ABC, January 5, 1999

ON FAVORITE ROLES/ TOUGHEST ROLES

"Certain days Kit on AMC was my favorite, but I also enjoyed playing Shirley from my play, "Hard Road Home". She was interesting. But I really don't think I have played my favorite yet, there are aspects of each character that I love. I am praying for something deep and extremely intense to come along. Jill, my character from the film I did this past summer in Milwaukee, LADY IN THE BOX, was somewhat of a caricature, just all over the place, over the top, and psychotic. Jeri, my role from 7 DAYS, was another doozy of a character. The part was delicious - a nitty gritty, misunderstood bad girl who actually had a vulnerable side. She was very self-destructive though and a lot of fun to play."

ON ACTING INSPIRATIONS

"Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange are both strong, powerful women with deep, soulful, intelligent performances and who grow more beautiful and sexy as they age. Mostly, Susan Sarandon, I would like to emulate her. I love her relationship with Tim Robbins. I also like Angelina Jolie from the younger generation. I call her unhinged."

ON HER ENGAGEMENT AND WEDDING

"Michael proposed in the traditional way, on bent knee. He placed the ring on my finger and explained that the diamond was given to his own mother by his father. He had the stone re-mounted into a beautiful band for me. He is probably the most romantic man I know. We got married at the house that I grew up in, the house that my grandfather built. It's very Tara-esque, with a long driveway and lots of acreage. It really lent itself to a good old Southern plantation wedding, and Michael was my Rhett Butler. Michael and I exchanged vows between two magnolia trees. Right after the wedding, we tossed yellow, white, and pink rose petals into the air. The reception was held behind the house. Everything was outside. It was a beautiful day. No rain. It was amazing."
